Peloubet's Select Notes on the International Bible Lessons for Christian Teaching. 1958.
Ok, still studying Jeremiah but the Holy Spirit, wanting to encourage, brought me to this study!
Yes, I choose to BELIEVE.
In My Utmost for His Highest. Chambers. Dec. 22's note is on John 6:44, "No [person] can come to Me, except the Father which has sent Me draw him." Jesus speaking. Mr. Chambers expounds, the Holy Spirit draws we respond. "Belief is not an intellectual act; belief is a moral act whereby I deliberately commit myself. "
Then having picked up Peloubet's I am draw to be reminded of Our Victory, and the first point: BELIEF.
Often called doubting Thomas, I wondered why include the story of Thomas' unbelief? Because of the other "Thomases". Because of societal times, like today, where government, culture, attacks on the family, etc seeming to be "going off the rail"! Have we, The Church, lost? Have we no hope? Have we nothing to do but hide in our "basements" and lick our wounds.
You remember that Thomas wasn't with the group that saw Christ the evening of Easter. When they shared that Jesus Christ LIVED, he said he would not believe unless he could place his hands into the wounds. A week later he would have his chance: for Christ appeared and offered Thomas just that opportunity. But Thomas answered, "My Lord and my God!", John 20:28. Christ said, " Thomas, because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed: Blessed are they that have not seen and yet believe." vs 29. Do you realize Christ is talking about us?! We His Church. Our hearts have been draw by the Holy Spirit and we have chosen to believe and say, "My Lord and my God!"
Victorious? Today the Church is under attack: accused of: Hate Speech for standing on The Word, Bigotry for preaching Moral Sexual Standards, Small/Narrow Mindedness for claiming One Way-Jesus Christ. If you read and believe the Holy Bible, you will find this will only intensify and the persecution will grow and become more invasive!
Victory? So what is Our Victory?
Come back and find out!♥️
